# General Settings

This guide covers the General Settings menu in the WEpayments Dashboard, including profile management, dashboard layout preferences, understanding roles, and user management.

## Accessing General Settings

In the side menu, click **Preferences > General Settings**. This opens four sub-tabs:

| **Tab**                | **What it contains**                                          |
| :--------------------- | :------------------------------------------------------------ |
| **General Settings**   | Basic access information, dashboard layout and roles assigned |
| **Security and Login** | Change password and add 2FA                                   |

## Profile management

In General Settings, you can view and edit your basic access information:

| **Field**         | **Description**               |
| :---------------- | :---------------------------- |
| **Name**          | Your display name             |
| **Email address** | Login email                   |
| **Language**      | Dashboard language preference |

## Dashboard layout preferences

| **Option**                  | **What it does**                                  |
| :-------------------------- | :------------------------------------------------ |
| **Fluid layout (enabled)**  | Allows more information to be displayed on screen |
| **Fluid layout (disabled)** | Standard fixed-width layout                       |

> 💡 When enabled, the fluid layout expands the dashboard to use more screen space, showing more information at once.

## Understanding roles assigned to your account

In the **Roles** tab, you can view:

| **Information**      | **Description**                                         |
| :------------------- | :------------------------------------------------------ |
| **Roles assigned**   | Which roles (Moderator, Write, View) your user has      |
| **Permissions list** | What actions you can perform (view, edit, create, etc.) |

### How roles are assigned

| **Scenario**       | **How it happens**                                   |
| :----------------- | :--------------------------------------------------- |
| **Initial access** | Our integration team assigns roles during onboarding |
| **New users**      | Moderator users can assign roles when creating users |
| **Role changes**   | A Moderator user can change roles for other users    |

> ⚠️ **Important:** A user, even with Moderator role, does not have permission to change their own roles. Another Moderator user must make the change.

## User creation limits

| **Question**                     | **Answer**                                                               |
| :------------------------------- | :----------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **How many users can I create?** | No limit                                                                 |
| **Recommendation**               | Only create users who need Dashboard access                              |
| **Responsibility**               | WEpayments is not responsible for accesses created by company moderators |
| **Deletion**                     | You can delete access whenever necessary                                 |

## Dashboard updates

| **Information**      | **Details**                                                |
| :------------------- | :--------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Update frequency** | Our Dashboard is constantly being updated                  |
| **Notifications**    | We will notify you of changes to your operation            |
| **Recommendation**   | Keep an eye out for new versions and update when necessary |
